THE RAWAS SYSTEM COMPOSITION:
An aerial platform, which allows
1. To obtain visible and infrared images using electro-optical sensors installed on a gyro-stabilized platform.
2. To obtain aircraft position and altitude data.
3. Real time transmission of aircraft position data and crew voice communications to a ground station.
A remote station, in-building located or mobile, which allows
1. To receive signals transmitted by the aircraft.
2. To process and display data and images collected.
3. To simultaneously display the aircraft position and flight parameters on overlaid digital terrain maps.
4. To record the signals received for post-analysis
5. To directly run and control the on-board mission instrumentation from the ground.
The receiving station
The rack-type Receiving Station is installed in a location having optimal radio electrical visibility with the aircraft during operations. It allows:
• To receive the video signals and the data transmitted by the aircraft.
• To establish voice connection between the pilot and the operator on the ground.
• To transmit the video and data signals received by the aircraft to the processing station for their analysis.
• In case the operation is performed with the operator on the ground, it is possible to transmit the control commands to the onboard mission equipment for remotely controlled aerial work.
The Data Processing Station, located in a Coordination and Control Centre allows:
• To receive the video and data signals transmitted from the Receiving Station.
• To display the images taken from the aircraft.
• To display, on interactive maps, both the aircraft position and related flight data.
• To establish voice link with the pilot and the operator or the ground.
• To record the images and data taken from the aircraft for their processing and analysis
The Mobile Control Station is set-up by the rack mount units (the Receiving Station and the Processing Station) on a special vehicle, specifically equipped for the long-range communication (radio-link, satellite modems, line-modems).
The vehicle has the following characteristics:
• 4 wheel drive
• Modified roof for antennas mounting
• Cabin height above 1,8 metres
Special features for installation of the rack mounts units:
• Roof mount antennas and air conditioner
• Electric power generator with fuel tank
• Internal mount dumped racks and shelves
